A dark-themed religious graphic featuring Arabic calligraphy of a prayer (Durood/Salawat) with its English translation below. The prayer is: "Allah, confer blessings upon Muhammad $\text{ﷺ}$, Your bondsman and Your messenger and confer blessings upon the believing men and women, and the Muslim men and women." The number 10 is in the top right, and the source "ابن حبان" (Ibn Hibban) is at the bottom.

Livelihood is a blessing through which a person fulfills their needs, supports their family, and resolves the challenges of life. However, to bring blessings into one’s livelihood and to seek Allah’s pleasure, it is essential for a person to give charity from their earnings and spend in Allah’s way. Islam highly encourages giving charity, which not only brings blessings but also strengthens a person’s spirituality. In this blog, we will discuss in detail the blessings in livelihood and the reward of giving charity.

1. The Importance of Blessings in Livelihood

Blessings in livelihood are a result of Allah’s mercy and approval. When a person gives from their earnings for Allah’s cause, Allah places blessings in their wealth, increases their sustenance, and brings peace and contentment into their life.

Imam Ali (A.S) said:
“Giving charity increases the wealth and reduces difficulties.”

2. The Significance and Benefits of Giving Charity

Giving charity is a means of spiritual growth. Not only does it help those in need, but it also increases love for Allah and humility in the giver’s heart. Charity brings blessings into one’s livelihood and attracts Allah’s help.

A narration from Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A) states that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Charity does not decrease wealth; rather, it increases it.”

This hadith emphasizes that charity increases wealth rather than diminishing it, as Allah’s mercy adds to it.

3. The Impact of Charity on Livelihood

When a person gives a portion of their earnings as charity, Allah places blessings in their wealth. These blessings are not limited to financial gain; they also bring peace, joy, and success to a person’s life. Giving charity makes a person’s prayers accepted, and it benefits them in both this world and the Hereafter.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Charity protects your wealth and increases your sustenance.”

4. Charity as an Expiation for Sins

Not only does charity bring blessings to wealth, but it also expiates sins. When a person spends in Allah’s way, Allah forgives their sins and grants peace to their hearts.

Imam Ali (R.A) said:
“Charity erases sins as water extinguishes fire.”

5. Different Forms of Charity

Islam offers several ways to give charity, and each form has its own reward:

  • Financial Charity: Giving money to the poor or needy.
  • Practical Charity: Helping others, such as providing assistance or guidance.
  • Knowledge-based Charity: Sharing useful knowledge and teaching others.
  • Time-based Charity: Spending one’s time helping others.

Each of these acts opens the door to Allah’s pleasure and brings blessings to one’s livelihood.

6. Charity Brings Peace in Life

One of the greatest benefits of giving charity is that it brings peace to the giver’s life. When a person helps others with their earnings, it fills their heart with joy, and they are relieved from worldly anxieties. Allah fills their life with tranquility and contentment.

Hazrat Aisha (R.A) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Whoever gives charity, Allah fills their life with peace and joy.”

7. Prayers for Blessings in Livelihood

For blessings in livelihood, we should pray to Allah to increase our sustenance and grant us the ability to give charity. The Prophet (PBUH) taught us a prayer:
“اللّٰہُمّ بارِک لَنَا فِی رِزْقِنَا”
(O Allah! Bless our sustenance)

Conclusion:

Blessings in livelihood and the act of giving charity are means through which peace, happiness, and success enter a person’s life. Giving charity not only increases wealth but also expiates sins and brings Allah’s mercy. We should adopt the habit of giving charity in our lives so that our sustenance increases, our prayers are answered, and we become successful both in this world and the Hereafter.
