Durood Wa Salam

Friday night (the night before Jumu’ah) is one of the most spiritually uplifting times to send salawat (blessings) upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is a beloved Sunnah that brings peace, forgiveness, and countless rewards.

It is narrated that Imam Shafi’i (رحمه الله) was seen in a dream after his passing. When asked the reason for his forgiveness and elevated status, he replied:

“I used to recite these five salawat every Friday night.”

Let us follow this blessed practice by reciting the five special salawat below:

The Five Salawat (with Arabic & English Translation):

1.
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ عَدَدَ مَنْ صَلَّىٰ عَلَيْهِ
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad as many times as the number of those who have sent blessings upon him.

2.
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ بِعَدَدِ مَنْ لَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ
And send blessings upon Muhammad as many times as the number of those who have not sent blessings upon him.

3.
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا أَمَرْتَ أَنْ يُصَلَّىٰ عَلَيْهِ
And send blessings upon Muhammad in the way You have commanded that blessings be sent upon him.

4.
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا تُحِبُّ أَنْ يُصَلَّىٰ عَلَيْهِ
And send blessings upon Muhammad in the way You love that blessings be sent upon him.

5.
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُصَلَّىٰ عَلَيْهِ
And send blessings upon Muhammad in the manner that is worthy of him.
