About the Compiler
حکیم الامت مولانا اشرف علی تھانوی (رحمہ اللہ)
Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (1863–1943) was one of the most influential Islamic scholars and spiritual reformers of the 20th century. Known as Hakim al-Ummah (The Physician of the Ummah), he authored over a thousand books. He compiled this concise collection to make it easy for the common Muslim to recite the authentic Sunnah prayers upon the Prophet (ﷺ) daily.
Why “40” Durood?
In Islamic tradition, the number 40 holds special significance. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever preserves for my Ummah forty Ahadith regarding their religious matters, Allah will raise him on the Day of Resurrection as a jurist and a scholar.”

By reciting these 40 specific salawat, one is not only sending blessings but also preserving and reciting 40 distinct traditions of the Prophet (ﷺ).
