A Moving Story About the Power of Durood (Salawat)
Imam Ghazali (رحمه الله) writes in Ihya-ul-Uloom:
Once a person went to visit someone who was on their deathbed. Upon seeing his condition, he asked, “What does the bitterness of death feel like?”
The dying man opened his eyes and said, “I don’t feel anything. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He explained further:
“I once heard a slave say that the person who frequently sends Salawat (Durood) upon the Prophet ﷺ is protected from the bitterness of death. Ever since then, I have made it my habit to continuously send Durood upon the Prophet ﷺ. And now I am witn`essing its blessings.”
💖 Durood Sharif:
Translation:
“O my Lord, send prayers and peace forever and ever upon Your Beloved, the best of all creation.”
A Dream from a Righteous Saint
In another narration in Ihya-ul-Uloom, it is mentioned:
A righteous man once had a spiritual experience in which he saw the great mystic Saint Imam Shihabuddin (رحمه الله) in a dream. The man asked Shaykh Shihabuddin about the true spiritual realities and deeper meanings of the unseen. The Shaykh responded gently and then recited the following Durood:
The man awoke from the dream and began reciting this beautiful invocation regularly. Soon after, he was relieved of the illness he was suffering from.
Again, we read the heartfelt expression of Durood:
Message and Moral
These stories are reminders of the immense spiritual rewards and worldly benefits of consistently sending Salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
💬 Those who keep the Prophet ﷺ close to their hearts by sending Durood are blessed with peace in this life, ease at the time of death, and a radiant afterlife.
Let us make the habit of reciting Durood part of our daily lives — in times of hardship and joy — and reap its countless blessings.
✨ Recommended Daily Practice:
You can choose to recite a simple Durood like:
Or the poetic one mentioned above:
